Now…
There are many things that are not talked about and that should be talked about.
Among those things are sex, desire, yearning, eroticism, and, of course, death.
There is of course a lot of chatter, a lot of prurience, and a great deal of polemical vitriol – in gender critical theory for example – around, for instance, the trans question, and the weird question of whether “men” and “women” are real, around the existence of the biological basis sexual identities, and so on.
You may not have noticed but women are not allowed to be pregnant, only “people” can be pregnant.
It seems that stating that women get pregnant – with the implication that only women get pregnant – is offensive.
So, let’s leave the polemics alone for a moment.
One of the ways around the inner and outer censor is a sense of humor, and one of the forms humor and irony can take is eroticism.
I was impressed, when I first sampled some French and Italian comedies, how they humanized sexuality, desire, lust, yearning, obsession by making them both exquisite and sublime and funny, and integrating thus our “baser” instincts into our general humanity.
I remember a time when Americans and the English would mock those French films where the lovers, in bed, would actually talk to each other. Grunting seemed much more appropriate. Well, I don’t know. The difference between Gallic and Anglo-Saxon attitudes was reflected in a polemic around a letter a number of French women, such as Catherine Deneuve, wrote criticizing what they saw as the puritan excesses of #MeToo. And the defenders of #MeToo struck back.
Sex is much more subtle, or so says my alter ego and pal, Gwendoline Clermont.
Her three books are FREE on Amazon in Kindle format this weekend – Saturday 29 May and Sunday 30 May 2021.
Do take advantage of Gwendoline; she adores it when you do. So, here is the blurb.
The erotic trilogy, the Gwendoline Trilogy, by my alter ego, Gwendoline Clermont, is available for download FREE this weekend, in Kindle format, at Amazon. Details on the books below.
THE SHAMING OF GWENDOLINE C ASIN: B08WPNLXP6
Fifty Shades … meets Roman Holiday with Audrey Hepburn when adorable math genius Gwendoline Clermont is caught in a moment of total humiliation and then swept up into a naughty whirlwind bisexual BDSM romance in NYC, Rome, Paris, on sun-drenched Mediterranean beaches and gloriously lonely islands. War-scarred British millionaire James Hewett Spencer and dazzling French actress Martine Aubin weave a dance of lust and love – and adoration – around innocent but headstrong Gwendoline, capturing her in their nets. But – after the exotic ecstasy, comes the downfall – the shaming of Gwendoline C.
GWENDOLINE GOES TO SCHOOL ASIN: B08XYCLCTY Fifty Shades morphs into The Story of O when Gwendoline’s partner, French film star Martine Aubin cooks up a dazzling spectacle, starring Gwendoline, in a French chateau during a cataclysmic thunderstorm, and aristocratic French dominatrix Mistress Nicole d’Artois decides Gwendoline needs a rigorous refresher in discipline, all with the approval of Gwendoline’s man – her chevalier servant and master – millionaire warrior James Hewett Spencer.
GWENDOLINE GOES UNDERGROUND ASIN: B08XYKBK7K
Fifty Shades meets James Bond meets Atomic Blonde when Gwendoline sacrifices her beauty and risks her life for love. Disguised as a totally and grotesquely tattooed semi-illiterate Appalachian waif, she goes underground, deep into the Caucasus Mountains, into the impregnable castle-like lair of the world’s most evil arms dealer, to save her man, James Hewett Spencer, and, perhaps, to save the world.
It is all highly ridiculous and over-the-top of course, and, Gwendoline hopes, lots of fun.
